Question 1

What trades or industries is Field Forge built for?

Accepted Answer

Field Forge is designed for any contractor or field service team that quotes jobs, schedules work, and invoices clients, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, building maintenance, facilities management, and general contracting.

Question 2

How does the AI quoting work?

Accepted Answer

You describe the job in plain English. Field Forge uses AI to draft a fully itemised estimate with materials, labour, and your margin applied, usually in about a minute. You check every line, adjust anything you need to, and then send it to the client.

Question 3

Can I import my existing rate sheets and supplier catalogues?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can import labour rates and material catalogues from CSV files. Field Forge maintains a rate library so your pricing stays consistent across every quote.

Question 4

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Field Forge runs on Google Cloud (Firebase) and encrypts your data in transit and at rest. All data is company-scoped, so your team only ever sees your own data. Authentication uses Firebase Auth with optional two-factor authentication and role-based access controls, and you can fine-tune create, edit, and delete permissions per person. Every change is recorded in an append-only audit trail, deleted records can be restored from a 30-day recycle bin, and your data is backed up daily. See our Security & Permissions page for details.

Question 5

What does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Field Forge offers two licence tiers: Lite at £19.99/month (or £199/year) for field techs who need mobile job access, and Full at £39/month (or £390/year) for office staff with complete platform access. Both include a 30-day free trial, with no credit card required. Enterprise pricing is available on request.

Question 6

Can my team use it on mobile?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Field Forge is a responsive web application that works on desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers. No app store download required.

Question 7

Absolutely. Electrical contractors use Field Forge to manage everything from domestic rewires to commercial installations. Create AI-powered quotes, schedule your electricians, track materials, and invoice clients, all from one platform.

Question 10

Does Field Forge integrate with Xero or QuickBooks?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Send invoices and supplier bills to Xero or QuickBooks. Contact us if a specific integration is important to your workflow.

Question 11

How does Field Forge compare to other field service management software?

Accepted Answer

Field Forge is purpose-built for UK contractors, with AI-powered quoting that drafts an itemised estimate in about a minute for you to check line by line. Unlike legacy systems, you get quoting, scheduling, job management, cost tracking, and invoicing in a single platform, with no app store download required.

Question 12

Is Field Forge suitable for sole traders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Field Forge works for sole traders through to teams of 50+. Sole traders benefit from AI quoting and integrated invoicing to save admin time and look professional to clients.

Question 13

Can I migrate my data from spreadsheets?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can import existing rate sheets, material catalogues, and client details from CSV files. Most teams are fully set up within a day.

Question 14

Does Field Forge work for facilities management companies?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Facilities management teams use Field Forge to manage reactive and planned maintenance jobs, schedule engineers across multiple sites, track asset registers, and handle multi-site client invoicing.

Question 15

Can I use Field Forge on a building site without Wi-Fi?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The field app keeps working with no signal: clock-in, notes, photos, checklists, forms, expenses and job status changes save on the phone and send when signal returns. Two things need a connection: looking up a scanned asset label, and opening a job the phone has not opened before.

Question 16

Does Field Forge handle works orders and reactive maintenance?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can create, assign, and track works orders for both reactive call-outs and planned preventive maintenance (PPM). Set priority levels, response times, and SLA targets. Field engineers receive job details on their mobile device and update status in real time.

Question 17

What reporting and analytics does Field Forge provide?

Accepted Answer

Field Forge includes real-time dashboards showing revenue, job profitability, team utilisation, quote conversion rates, and outstanding invoices. Export reports or use the built-in KPI tracking to make data-driven business decisions.

Question 18

Can I customise quotes with my company branding?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can add your company logo, accent colours, and custom terms to quote PDFs. All documents sent to clients carry your branding for a professional appearance.

Question 19

How do I manage subcontractors in Field Forge?

Accepted Answer

Field Forge includes a subcontractor and supplier management module. Track subcontractor details, allocate them to jobs, manage purchase orders, and monitor costs, all from within the same platform you use for your own team.

Question 20

Does Field Forge track time and attendance for field engineers?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Field engineers clock in and out against specific jobs from their mobile device, with location captured at clock-in and clock-out and breaks paused and resumed. Time is valued at the engineer’s hourly cost and flows into job costing, and you can review timesheets and compare estimated vs actual hours for payroll and margin tracking.

Question 21

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Accepted Answer

Yes. There are no long-term contracts. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your data remains accessible for export during a grace period after cancellation.

Question 22

Does Field Forge support multi-site and multi-branch management?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can manage multiple client sites, each with their own address, contacts, and job history. The platform is designed for teams that operate across many locations, from single-branch contractors to multi-site facilities management companies.

Question 23

Does Field Forge support applications for payment and retention?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Field Forge supports JCT-style applications for payment as a first-class workflow. You claim by percentage complete across each scope line, and cumulative claims are validated against what was previously certified. Retention is held at the rate you set (typically 5%) and released on one invoice once the works are fully certified. The domestic reverse charge and CIS are handled, and every figure is calculated deterministically.

Question 24

Can Field Forge read supplier invoices and match them to purchase orders?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upload a supplier invoice as a PDF, photo, or scan and AI extracts the lines, three-way matches them to the purchase order, and flags any cost or quantity variance before you pay. Lines not on the PO are surfaced to keep, query, or remove, and any line can be added to your parts catalogue at the billed price in one click. AI only reads and matches. All financial figures are calculated by the system.

Question 25

Can I build custom forms and digital job sheets?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A drag-and-drop form builder lets you create forms and job sheets with the fields you need, including signature fields and conditional logic, and save them as templates. Engineers complete them on any phone or tablet, attach photos, capture signatures on site, and every submission is linked to the relevant job, customer, site, contract, or asset.

Question 26

Is there a customer portal?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Field Forge includes a branded customer portal where clients can approve or decline quotes, track job progress and status, view their invoices and payment status, and submit new work order requests, which cuts the email back-and-forth and helps quotes get signed off faster.

Question 27

Can I see my engineers on a live map?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Field Forge plots your jobs and, with consent, your engineers in real time on a live map, alongside customer sites and asset locations. You can dispatch the nearest available engineer to urgent work, and geolocated clock-in records attendance on site. Tracking is opt-in with active, paused, and off-shift states.
